Proportions or Equivalent Ratios

A proportion indicates that the two ratios are equivalent or equal to each other.

E.g. if a : b and c : d are in proportion, then
  a = c
  b    d

Each quantity in a proportion is called a term or proportion

If two ratios are proportional, then their cross products should be equal, that is
a x d = c x b

To find any missing term use cross multiplication
