Circle Graphs

In this topic, we learn to make and interpret circle graphs.

Topic: Interpret a Circle Graph

  • A circle graph shows the fractions of all the sections in a sample

  • Each section on a circle graph represents a fraction of 1 whole

  • Value of a section = Fraction of the section x Whole value

  • To multiply a fraction with a whole number, multiply the numerator of the fraction with the whole number and retain the denominator

Topic: Make a Circle Graph

  • Represent the given data in fractions of the whole value and simplify

  • Label each of these sections in the circle graph; write the fraction each section represents

  • To find the fraction for each section, divide its value by the value for the entire circle (whole value)

  • Value of a section = Fraction represented by the section x Whole value

  • The size or share of each section of the complete circle represents the fraction out of 1 whole. For example, 1/4 is represented by shading a fourth of the circle
