Congruent Figures

In this topic, we learn to identify congruent figures and to use congruence to solve problems.

Topic: Identify Congruent Figures

  • Figures that have the same shape and same size are congruent

  • If one figure can be superimposed on the other, they are said to be congruent

Topic: Corresponding Parts of Congruent Figures

  • The parts of congruent figures that match are corresponding parts. If two figures are congruent, the measures of their corresponding parts are equal

  • The corresponding angles and sides of congruent figures are equal

  • If the measures of the sides and angles of one of the congruent figures is known, we can find the measures of the corresponding sides and angles of the other congruent figure

  • Corresponding figures are named as per their corresponding vertices
