Divide by 2-Digit Numbers

The number being divided is called the dividend, the number by which it is being divided is called the divisor and the result of the division is called the quotient

A number remaining after division is called the remainder

To divide 94 ÷ 30, we place the first digit of the quotient in the ones place

Divide the digits in the ones place; 94 ÷ 30 = 3 R4

Place the first digit of the quotient

Bring down the digits of the divisor, one by one, and divide

To divide 184 ÷ 13, we place the first digit of the quotient in the tens place

Divide the digits in tens place; 18 ÷ 13 = 1 R5

Bring down the ones place and divide; 54 ÷ 13 = 4 R2

For dividing dollars and cents, divide the number in the same way you divide whole numbers

Place the dollar sign and the decimal point where they belong in the quotient
